Fiddy’s Big News

January 10, 2018 update: W2Beauty has been renamed Beautytap. Also, my title has changed to Director of Marketing.

Okay, guys. You better sit down, because I have something to tell you.

Stop crying. I’m not pregnant.

No, actually…I have a new job. One that fits me perfectly!

And I mean PERFECTLY!

I’m proud to announce that I’m now W2Beauty‘s Editor at Large, a role that combines several of my passions: skincare, writing, and K-beauty evangelism. I’ll continue contributing to W2Beauty’s editorial section, of course (where my picks for the best of Swanicoco just went live, in case you wanted to read that!). I’ll also be working with the rest of the W2Beauty team on projects designed to elevate the K-beauty game in the global market.

When I first started this blog, I had no plans for it except as a fun outlet for my interest in skincare and Asian cosmetics. I had no idea how meaningful the international rise of K-beauty and Asian cosmetics would become to me. These days, exploring and writing about K-beauty have become my life and my actual living. W2Beauty offers me a constantly growing playground of products to try, as well as a new platform and resources to share what I find.

For example, they made my dozen-sunscreen trial possible.

The site is better than ever now that the look and operations have been updated, too. The new W2Beauty combines the team’s talent for bringing new, cool releases online with a grand vision for the future; we’ll be working with sites and brands from all over to achieve our shared goal of growing K-beauty massively worldwide. I’m so lucky for the opportunity to be a part of that.

(On that note, keep an eye out: W2 is planning to unveil something that no one in K-beauty has done before, and I think we’re all going to love it!)

As for the blog, don’t expect much to change. I’ll still be testing and writing about products from a variety of sources here in the same manner as usual. Fifty Shades of Snail is my baby, and I see my role at W2Beauty as a way to enhance what I do here. I’ll work hard to keep things balanced.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments! I know I’ve got quite a backlog to answer, but I will get to them all.

In other news, I’ll be appearing at two K-beauty events in southern California in upcoming months.

On July 8, I’ll be appearing at BEAUTCHAT‘s first beauty class at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. I’ll be speaking during the 107 Oneoseven portion on the role of traditional herbal and botanical ingredients in modern anti-aging skincare. And in September, I (and a very close friend whom you guys all know!) will be appearing at Vibetrek‘s K-beauty in K-Town event at the LINE Hotel. More details on both appearances coming soon!

Thank you all for being such amazing readers and friends. All of this is a dream come true for me, and it wouldn’t be possible without all the support I’ve gotten from you guys. I hope I can keep sharing my skincare and K-beauty love with everyone here for many years to come, or until my face eventually meets its (probably high-pH) nemesis and falls off. Hopefully that doesn’t happen anytime soon.

  1. Wowowow congratulations! The research and effort to look beyond boilerplate press makes you my ultimate skin idol (in the creepy shrine-building sense of the word of course) and I totally depend on you to know what I should be coveting in skincare, so the more I can read your writing/reviews/anything you touch the better!

  2. Wow Fiddy, that’s really amazing news! I’m sooo happy for you – congratulations one more time! And I totally 100 % agree with Lauren Nguyen above – me, too, I adore you in the “creepy shrine-building sense of the word” :-))) Love to read whatever you write. Like I said before – write a book and I (as well as all your other fans I’m sure) will buy it. Three cheers to you for an awesome job-future in AB.

  3. Congratulations!!!! I love your posts and I am so pleased you will continue writing for us as well as embrace your new job role. I also started blogging for the fun of it. And I didn’t have any idea how much my skin would improve as a result of my research about products and ingredients. I have learnt so much from bloggers like yourself and continue to learn. Thank you for your beautifully written, honest and very helpful reviews. I just read your Swanicoco review and I am so happy you’ve tested the EGF and FGF ampoules. I have oily/acne prone skin with tons of acne scars and those two products are on my list to try as soon as possible. I was going to purchase them from eBay but since W2Beauty now carries them and there is free world wide shipping, I think I might get them from W2Beauty. I’ve heard about Swanicoco from skin care professionals and I have great expectations from this brand. I want to try the products for oily skin, for tight pores, the ampoules and the emulsions. I have a feeling that we’ll be hearing about this brand more and more.

  6. Congratulations and best wishes for your future endeavors. W2 Beauty is lucky to have you.
One thing I have loved about your blog is seeing your thought process as you select new products, and you have remarkable taste. I am sure W2 can keep you swimming in interesting products. Do you see this having an influence on your product choices? Will you have the time and inclination to try products not carried on their site?
Thank you for all your hard work and I can’t wait to see your upcoming posts.

  7. Congratulations!! I must admit I like that you are working with W2Beauty because they are globally oriented. I hope they start carrying some of my favorite brands soon, but I am happy I discovered SanDaWha through them! Even though your preferences do not match mine at all, I just love reading your posts; your humor, your personality, your honesty and your passion are highly appreciated. I wish you all the best for your new job and hope to continue to read from you – here or anywhere else.

  11. Waaaaaw this is awesome! There’s no better feeling than seeing your hustle pay dividends, and you’re clearly one of the hardest workers in the game. So, to quote Post Malone: CONGRATULATIONS. I’m really curious to see how you develop content for both platforms. It’ll be a balancing act, to be sure, but if anyone can do it, it’ll be you. (Oh, and one Q: will you shift to a more specific schedule for pushing out material on one or both sitesc or will it be catch-as-catch-can for now?)
